Course Delivery:

72 Hours

The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Program provides candidates with the initial steps in pre-hospital care education. The program includes learning a systematic approach to patient assessment as well as pre-hospital treatment for various medical and traumatic injuries. The course also covers rescue scene assessment, basic anatomy, EMR level treatments & protocols, and written and verbal communication skills.

Recommended for 
People pursuing a career as a Level 1 Paramedic, oil rig medics, mining medics, fire fighters.

Content
Contents of CPR-HCP, Secondary Survey, chest trauma, head and spinal injuries, patient packaging and transport, use of lifting devices, multi-person lifts, multiple rescuers, MCI, bone and joint injuries, minor wound care, documentation, pharmacology, ambulance orientation & emergency driving, medication administration, activity-related soft tissue injuries, medical and behavioral emergencies, legislation.

Prerequisites
Minimum age: 16 years old

Schedule
This course is offered over four weekends.
